Kirksville's Rotary Park has been a part of the Rotary Club of Kirksville since the 1950's when Rotary purchased land for what was then "Swimming Pool Park". Since then, the club has been actively involved in continuing to make the park a important asset to the Kirksville community.
In 2003, prior to celebrating the 100th anniversary of Rotary International in 2005-06, each local Rotary Club ws asked to consider doing a significant club project to recognize this centennial event. Ray Klinginsmith, a long time Kirksville Rotarian, suggested that Rotarians build an amphitheater in Swimming Pool Park as the Club's project for the Rotary Centennial.
Today the park includes not only the pool and amphitheatre, but also a 9-hole disc golf course, picnic areas, children's play equipment and a sand volleyball court.
